Sensei & Student, and a Wardrobe for Every Enemy
Written with today's names: some places and characters in this entry have been renamed since it shipped.
Teaching somebody the game now pays, all the way up a five-rung ladder. This update also gives every enemy in the world a look of its own, and fixes a list of things you reported.
Sensei & Student
Every shinobi now has an invite code in Social ▸ 🎓 Sensei & Student. Copy the code for chat, or share the link and it applies itself. Anyone who signs up with it becomes your student for good.
- When your student comes back for a third day, you both get +100% XP for 2 hours.
- A student "goes the distance" at seven different days played and level 60. Days, not hours: you are rewarded for someone actually staying.
- Already playing and someone invited you? Name your sensei from the same panel while you are still on your way to 60.
The reward ladder
- 1 student — the Sensei Robe
- 3 students — the Sensei Cap and the title 《Sensei》
- 5 students — the Mentor nameplate colour, a teal nothing in the shop sells
- 10 students — the title 《Shishou》
- Every student — 50 Crystals, up to 500 in a lifetime
The panel lists every rung, what it pays and how many students you still need. Rewards wait there until you claim them, and your students appear with their faces and progress.
Every enemy is a different person
- The enemy roster used to share six shirts and a handful of haircuts. Now 319 enemies wear 319 distinct looks: trench coats and wide hats on the road, fishnet and taped fists in a brawl, village flak under a rank ladder. You can read what is coming before it reaches you, and each region has its own palette.
- Friendly townsfolk across nine regions are properly dressed, and 69 half-dressed figures painted into the map art itself are gone.
Also new
- 👁 Hide the look of your gear with an eye toggle on the armor and head slots. You keep every stat.
- The vault is sorted into categories with a search bar.
- Every service NPC has its own icon on the minimap and the region map.
- On a phone, long-press a player to open their menu, so duels finally work on touch.
Fixes
- The death screen no longer stays over you after you respawn when you died and levelled up in the same instant.
- In The Ash Foundry, Hayate's creations stop respawning after he falls.
- The crafting bench works on a phone again; it was showing one recipe out of ninety-eight.
- On desktop, number keys no longer cast a jutsu through an open Jutsu Book or item picker.
- Closed a duplication exploit involving the free starter weapon.
