Rebindable Keys, Squad Kicks and September Fixes
Written with today's names: some places and characters in this entry have been renamed since it shipped.
Four smaller releases landed in the second half of September: squad tools, a full key-binding menu on desktop, and two rounds of fixes that came straight from your reports.
September 17: squads and clearer fights
- Squad leaders can remove members. Press the small ✕ next to a name in Social ▸ your squad twice to confirm. It works on offline members too, and the removed player is told.
- Protective Barrier shows on your squad. On desktop, every squadmate's health bar now shows the barrier they carry, with the amount beside it.
- Hayate stops interrupting his own fight. In his last two phases in The Ash Foundry, a dialogue box opened mid-screen and asked for two taps while he attacked. His taunts now arrive in chat.
- The Shinobi Clash header got out of the way on landscape phones: one compact line under the top edge with the clock, the leader and you.
- Healing numbers are whole numbers again.
- Desktop: Ctrl+1 no longer casts a jutsu on its way to switching browser tabs, and holding a number key no longer fires it over and over.
September 18: change your keys (desktop)
- Open ⚙ Settings ▸ Controls, click a row and press a key. 41 actions can be rebound: nine jutsu slots, eight belt slots, every menu panel, movement, interact, basic attack, cycle target and substitution.
- Your keys are saved to your account, with two layouts kept separately: keyboard, and TV & controller.
- Taking a key that is already in use moves it and names the action left blank. The arrow keys always walk, and Reset all keys is one click.
- Prompts follow your keys: move Interact off F and the prompt over an NPC shows your new key.
- Settings has a real menu now: General, Controls, Gameplay, Interface, Audio and Privacy.
September 19: fixes
- Maps no longer turn black or empty when you change area or enter a building.
- E, F, Space and Tab are typed where you are typing again, in chat and on the login screens.
- An ally's summons and clones are allies. In raids, rifts and squads they show a green name and Tab skips them, so clones beside you no longer soak up every press.
- During a duel, Tab cycles only your opponent and their summons.
September 24: fixes
- The gravity-pull jutsu now reaches its full 20 tiles; it only ever pulled from 10.
- The space-time blink earns Mastery: it counts as a support action, so a kill shortly after the blink credits Mastery EXP.
- Mission escorts keep up with you through portals, Tea routes included.
