Hollow Eclipse — A New Story Cast and a DPS Meter

The main story now belongs to Chakra Online's own characters. Hollow Eclipse brings an original enemy faction and cast to every saga chapter, with new scenes, boss effects and two redrawn raids. There is also, finally, a way to see exactly how hard you hit.

Meet the cast

Every story character now has their own name and animated art. Your progress and everything you have earned carry over.

  • In the village: Instructor Ema at the Academy, Dagan proctoring the Chuunin exam and Sena in the Arena. The Frayed Witness waits at the first rift.
  • Faces Without Names: Captain Renga, Nemi, Mirae and Nacre. South of the forest village, a Maskbound Infiltrator and Kuro, who steps in and out of silver seams in the air.
  • The Lantern Covenant: Taren, the Maskbound Raiders and the Reedbound Sage, who is now also the giant your Kuchiyose calls, arriving behind you instead of on top of you.
  • Vessels of the Dunes: Marshal Adra and Namar with his Memory Husks. The Drowned Road: Maelin, Rokai and Veyra.
  • The Unbroken Oath: Sair. The Hollow Dawn: Kuren and Ivara.

Ten new story scenes

  • A single dialogue box now changes voice line by line, so characters talk to each other on screen.
  • Characters appear in the scene with you, such as Kuren kneeling where he fell, and stand where you can see them rather than behind a tree.
  • Some scenes hand you the evidence: a fractured anchor, an archive key, a lantern seal.
  • Kuro now fights back in his chapter: he winds up, closes his seam and steps out of a new one at your side.

Two raids, renamed and redrawn

  • The Glassworks: Vesryn and the boss Ren Ashblade, redrawn with obsidian wings and a smoked-glass sword. The control seal on his sword arm erupts when he enrages and shatters when he falls, and on a Normal or Solo clear he stays behind, kneeling and free. The raid's jutsu reward is now called the Control Sigil.
  • The Ash Foundry: Hayate rides the Cinderwing, Cinderwing divers dive with burning fuses, Resonance Latches hold their ground and strike anyone in reach, the dragon is now ash-metal, and the Ashfall Coda fills the air with ash.
  • The raid doors on the map show the new names, and the medals follow, from Glassbreaker to Forged in Ash.

New boss effects

  • Kuren blinks away and leaves a ghost replay behind, and his Silent Omen replays a strike.
  • Ivara sends out resonance fronts and tightens a lattice net.
  • Namar draws a three-plate shell from his Memory Husks; break them to shatter it.
  • Veyra pulls currents in from everyone her siphon catches.
  • Sair's Oath Grid is now a square with the same area as the old circle. It is the only rule that changed; timing and damage are the same.

Rifts and the Jounin Trial

  • Every rift now spills Shadow Wraiths; in the open-world tears they sink into the ground, travel beneath it and erupt. The rift medals are now Thin the Shadows, Nothing Lurks Here and Burn Away the Dark.
  • In the Jounin Trial, the route ledgers are books lying on the floor, the Captured Shinobi is a new scout who walks after you, and once your cover is blown the Eclipse Lookouts fight: they chase, swing, dodge and throw kunai.
  • The Chuunin exam's scrolls are the Dawn and Dusk Seal-Scrolls.

The DPS meter

  • Training dummies now have 1,000,000 HP. Hit one and a Measure your damage prompt appears over it. Press F (or tap the prompt) to start; the prompt shows your running total. Press F again, or stop hitting for 10 seconds, to get your report.
  • Boss fights measure themselves: the world boss, raid bosses, the Hollow Reaper and story bosses, from your first blow. The card appears when the boss is killed, and only then.
  • The report shows your total, time, DPS, hits and biggest hit, broken down by ability and by target. Burns count toward the jutsu that caused them, and summons toward their owner.
